Baltic sauna
traditions reborn
in a modern design
YAUYA is born in the forested plains of Lithuania, where steam bathing has shaped the way of life for thousands of years. Drawing from the essence of Baltic sauna traditions, we create authentic outdoor sauna houses rooted in local craftsmanship. Each YAUYA sauna is thoughtfully designed by passionate sauna practitioners and brought to life by the skilled hands of experienced craftsmen.

Solid wood construction
Refined through generations and assembled from local timber, the traditional log-house structure contains no plastic and ensures long-lasting enjoyment
Atmospheric windows
The modest windows ornament is inherited from the traditional Baltic bath houses. It sets a mood with soft interior lighting and an intimate panorama to the surroundings
Wood burning stove
Wood heating offers liberty from grid and the archaic cosiness of wavering fire. Although we can offer other heating methods, we love the pureness of log fire
Unique wide platform
The large platform in YAUYA sauna houses invites you to lay down, stretch your legs and immerse into the rejuvenating warmth of steam
Our traditions
Pirtis building
The Baltic countryside panorama is filled with log houses, the tiniest of them are usually saunas. We call it Pirtis. Our traditional builders polished their knowledge from generation to generation. Luckily, this knowledge survived until this day. For us its a pure honor and inspiration to build on these secrets of the traditional craftsmanship.

Natural finish
In sauna having only clean and natural products is essential. Traditionally, the interior and exterior surfaces are treated with natural waxes, oils and even fire. Such finish protects the surface and makes the construction breathe. But more, it enables the natural essential oils to release their magical scent.

Abundant water
Steam bathing first and foremost is about body cleansing. Thats why in the traditional sweat-bathing procedures we use a great deal of water. Traditionally, hot water was used for bathing and laundry. But even nowadays, the hot water is essential. We dip our feet, pour it on the stones and use it in various spa-like procedures.

Use of plants
Yet another distinct twist of our Baltic steam bathing is the use of plants to utilise their cleansing, relaxing and healing properties. We use plants to spread the plant fragrances, scrub, move the hot air or bring the heat to the skin and in many other ways. The most prominent is called whisking, which is hot beating with a bouquet of tree branches.

Community place
In the Baltics, sauna has always been a communal gathering space. To our ancestors, sauna served many purposes, from birth-giving to community celebrations and rituals, and even food processing. Its safe to say that sauna takes a very special place in one’s life and leads throughout all the steps of life.

Bath master
Or simply a sauna man, is the one who carries the secrets of steam-bathing. In Lithuania, we have several traditional Bath master schools. The curriculum lasts 1-3 years and the students learn a wide range of subjects, like microclimate control, use of plants or designing healthy and pleasant sessions for their clients, among others. No wonder the graduates are certified by the State Ministry of Health.
